The big questions, answered in detail.
How much does a water slide cost? There is no fixed price: every slide is custom-made. But we can explain what determines the price.
From design to handoverWhat steps are involved in buying a slide, splash pad or water playground?
Splash pad or water playground? Two ways to play with water. What is the difference, and which suits your venue?
Maintenance and inspectionA slide or splash pad lasts a long time if it is properly maintained. This is how we go about it.
Renovating or extending a slideYour slide does not need replacing to be as good as new.
Which water slide suits you?Five questions that make the choice easier.
Standards and inspection of water slidesWhat the standards require, and how we include that in the design.
Slide indoors or outdoors?Indoors, outdoors or partly outside the building: each has its own points to consider.
Costs and quotation
How much does a water slide cost?
That depends on the type and length of the slide, the height and support structure, the pump technology, whether it is indoors or outdoors, the landing and the options. Because every slide is custom-made, we prepare a tailored quotation. Read what determines the price.
How much does a splash pad or water playground cost?
The price is mainly determined by the number and type of play elements, the ground and the water technology. We prepare a custom design and quotation.
What do you need from us for a quotation?
A floor plan or drawing of the site, the intended target group, indoor or outdoor, and if possible photos of the existing situation. The more we know, the more accurate the quotation.
Are subsidies available?
That depends on your situation and the schemes in force at the time. We do not give subsidy advice, but we are happy to provide the technical data you need for an application.
Process and planning
What does the process from design to handover look like?
Introduction, design and 3D model, engineering and simulation, production in Oudewater, installation and inspection. Read all the steps.
How long does it take?
That depends on the size of the project, the engineering, preparation on site and the season. With the quotation we draw up a schedule to suit your situation.
Do you also handle installation?
Yes. Our own VOL-VCA certified installers install the slide or splash pad, including pipework, pump technology and controls. Working with your own technical team under AVASTO supervision is also possible.
Do you also work outside the Netherlands?
Yes. From our own production hall in Oudewater we deliver projects in the Netherlands and abroad. Our clients include swimming pools, holiday resorts and hotels in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and England. There is even an AVASTO slide on the lake at Lac des Cyprès in Canada.
Is a permit required?
That varies by project and municipality, for example for a slide that is built outside the building. Check with your local authority; we provide drawings and technical data for the application.
Technology and space
How much space, water and pump capacity is needed?
That varies by model. The specification table for our slides lists the width, gradient and pump capacity of each model. The standard requires clear space around the rider and in the landing area; we take this into account in the design.
Can a slide be both indoors and outdoors?
Yes. We build slides indoors, outdoors and partly outside the building. For an outdoor slide we take weather influences and heat loss into account, for example with insulation.
How does a water slide work?
A pump in the plant room pumps pool water to the highest point. The water acts as a lubricant, so you slide down smoothly. The amount of water partly determines speed and safety.
What is the difference between a splash pad and a water playground?
A splash pad has no standing water; a water playground is located in or next to a (toddler) pool. Read which suits your venue.
Do you also supply the water treatment and electronics?
Yes. Water treatment, pump technology and electronics are all in-house, so everything is properly matched.
Do you also supply whirlpools and steam cabins with a payment system?
Yes. We supply whirlpools and steam and infrared cabins with our own technology, linked to a cashless or coin payment system if required. Read more about whirlpools and steam cabins.
Safety and standards
Which standards does an AVASTO slide comply with?
We design water slides to NEN-EN 1069-1 and NEN-EN 1069-2, with NEN-EN 13451-1 for swimming pool equipment, NEN-EN 15288-1 for the pool and NEN 9200 for metal structures. Read more about simulation and safety.
Is the steel structure of a slide certified?
Yes. We make the steel towers, stairs and platforms of our slides in our own NEN-EN 1090-1 certified production hall in Oudewater and supply them with CE marking. Read what NEN-EN 1090 certification involves.
Which standards apply to splash pads and water playgrounds?
NEN-EN 17232 for water play equipment, combined with NEN-EN 1176 for playground equipment and NEN-EN 15288-1 for the pool.
Is a slide inspected?
Yes. In the Netherlands, a water slide falls under the Dutch Attractions and Playground Equipment Decree (Warenwetbesluit attractie- en speeltoestellen). After handover the attraction is inspected and the client receives a certificate.
Maintenance and renovation
Do you provide maintenance and inspection?
Yes, for slides, water play equipment, pumps, filtration systems and electronics, also under a tailored maintenance contract. Read how we go about it.
Can an existing slide be renovated or extended?
Yes. We renovate and insulate existing slides and extend them with light, sound, AquaSmash or timing. Read about the options.
Do you also maintain slides by other manufacturers?
Yes. We also maintain, repair and renovate existing slides and play equipment that were not built by AVASTO.
