Is AVASTO NEN-EN 1090 certified?

Yes. Kiwa has certified us to NEN-EN 1090-1 for structural steel components up to and including execution class EXC 2. Read what the certification involves.

Do you supply steel structures with CE marking?

Yes. We supply load-bearing structural components with CE marking and a declaration of performance. For each order, we draw up a welding plan and a checklist, and we keep the material certificates for the steel with the project file.

Who determines the execution class?

The project's structural engineer determines the execution class. If it is not stated on the drawing, we agree it with you in advance. We are permitted to supply up to and including EXC 2, the class into which most construction and installation projects fall.

Do you also carry out the structural calculations?

We work with the calculations and execution class provided by your project's structural engineer, and produce the workshop and production drawings on that basis.

Steel and finishes

Which steel grades do you work with?

For structures, we use structural steel to EN 10025 in grades S235, S275 and S355. We also work with stainless steel, aluminium, Corten steel and, for interiors, brass.

Hot-dip galvanising or powder coating?

Hot-dip galvanising to NEN-EN-ISO 1461 gives outdoor steel the best protection against rust. A powder coating or wet paint gives the steel a RAL colour of your choice and also protects it. For wet paint systems, we use, among others, an epoxy zinc phosphate primer with a polyurethane topcoat.

Which fasteners do you use?

As standard, hot-dip galvanised fasteners in property class 8.8.

What is Corten steel?

Corten steel is steel that forms a reddish-brown layer of rust in the open air, which protects the material itself. Besides its warm colour, it is durable and can be worked into many shapes. We use it to make edging, borders, fencing and planters, among other things. See our landscape design.

Machine building

How does building a machine work?

First research and development, then a prototype that we test and evaluate, and only then production and installation. If you have already done the groundwork, we step in at the production stage.

Do you also supply the controls?

Yes. The electrical engineering, the control panel and the PLC software come from AVASTO Control Systems, also based in Oudewater. That way, a single partner supplies your complete machine.

Do you also make parts in series?

Yes. Among other things, we make steel and aluminium parts in series, such as profiles, connecting plates, brackets and levelling feet for FAAY's wall and ceiling systems.

Interiors and installation

Who designs a steel interior?

The design usually comes from the client, the architect or the interior fit-out company. We take care of the steelwork: detailing, production in our facility in Oudewater and installation on site. See our interiors.

Do you work for interior fit-out companies?

Yes. Interior fit-out companies bring us in for the steel and stainless steel in their projects, from a structure for an acoustic wall to stainless steel strips, sheets, cabinets and planters.

Do you also handle installation?

Yes. Our own installers install the work on site; they are VOL-VCA certified. Working with your own team, supported by an AVASTO supervisor, is also possible.
