About us
- 2001
- In 2001, Swen van Vrouwerff and Alexander van den Akker founded AVASTO. By combining Swen's background in control engineering with Alexander's background in metal engineering, they can offer clients a complete package. This combination has proven to be a good match. Because we offer both metalwork and controls, clients can deal with a single partner for machine building. This saves time and money and prevents miscommunication.
- 2006
- In 2006, AVASTO took over the swimming pool-related activities of Terberg. These include whirlpools, steam baths, wave machines and filtration systems. That same year, the premises on the Kerkwetering were deemed too small, and AVASTO moved to Tappersheul.
- 2022
- In 2022, under the name AVASTO Recreation Technology, AVASTO took the step of focusing specifically on the leisure industry and specialising further in water playgrounds and splash pads. Shortly afterwards, in early 2023, AVASTO took on part of the experienced team of Van Egdom Recreatietechniek, a company that supplied slides and water playgrounds worldwide. This brought their knowledge of slides to AVASTO. That, too, proved a great combination of control and steel engineering.

What we do
AVASTO Steel Construction is the partner for your steel project. From our own production facility in Oudewater, we design, manufacture, supply and install for sectors including industry, machine building and metal construction, and we also provide electrical engineering and software development.
You will therefore find our products in large technical projects, restaurant fit-outs, switch cabinets, fencing and staircases, and certainly also in the swimming pool and wellness sector. Thanks to our many years of experience, in-house production and broad expertise, we deliver high-quality products. We also install and assemble our products to suit your requirements and budget. And if you need service after installation, we are of course there for you.
Steel structures
Quality and precision come first when we build steel structures. We are NEN-EN 1090-1 certified: our structures demonstrably meet high quality requirements. Our process includes an accurate site survey, detailed structural drawings and the use of high-grade materials such as structural steel to EN 10025. The structures are manufactured to strict standards and finished to your specifications.
Installation service
Our products can be installed professionally by our own installers. All our installers are VOL-VCA certified. AVASTO is a member of Koninklijke Metaalunie (Royal Metaalunie, the Dutch metalworking trade association). You can also work with your own technical team, supported by an AVASTO supervisor. The many years of experience of our office and field staff ensure a trouble-free process. We are happy to think along with you so that installation is efficient and within budget.
