Outdoor slide at a swimming pool

Frequently asked questions

On buying, operating, safety and maintenance of water slides, splash pads and water playgrounds.

How do I buy a water slide or pool attraction?

Buying a professional water slide involves more than choosing a model. You need to take account of safety requirements, the required water capacity and the space available. A slide also needs its own water circuit with specific pumps. We recommend always working with a technical specialist. We do not just look at the slide itself; we also engineer and install all the pipework and pump technology behind it, so everything works safely and optimally.

How exactly does a water slide work?

A water slide works through the interplay of gravity and water pressure. A powerful pump in the plant room continuously pumps pool water to the highest point of the slide. The water flows down and acts as a lubricant, reducing friction so you slide down smoothly. The size and power of the pump determine the amount of water and therefore partly the speed and safety of the attraction.

Who do you install recreation technology for?

We work mainly for the business market in the leisure sector. Our clients include campsites, holiday parks, public swimming pools, hotels and wellness centres. We also integrate our technology into high-end private pools and home spas.

What is the difference between a splash pad and a water playground?

A splash pad has no standing water: the play elements stand on the ground and the water drains away immediately, so even the very youngest can play safely. A water playground is located in or next to a (toddler) pool and combines playhouses, slides and water-spraying figures. We fit out both entirely to your wishes.

Which safety standards do your slides and play equipment comply with?

Our slides and attractions are designed to NEN-EN 1069-1 and NEN-EN 1069-2 (water slides), NEN-EN 17232 (water playgrounds), NEN-EN 1176 and the Dutch Building Code (Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving, Bbl, formerly Bouwbesluit), and NEN-EN 15288 (swimming pools). After inspection, the client receives a certificate showing that the attraction complies with all standards.

Where are the slides made?

We design and manufacture in our own NEN-EN 1090-1 certified production hall in Oudewater. That is also where we make the steel structures, which are hot-dip galvanised to NEN-EN-ISO 1461. We make the polyester slide sections there ourselves too.

Can you renovate or insulate an existing slide?

Yes. We renovate existing slides and can extend them with lighting, effects or timing. We also insulate slides to reduce heat loss: a considerable share of the heat loss in swimming pools occurs in the slide, especially when it runs (partly) outside the building.

Do you also provide maintenance and service?

Yes. We maintain slides, water play equipment, pumps, filtration systems and electronics, including slides and attractions by other manufacturers. Where necessary we repair or replace (electronic) components. Should a fault occur, we resolve it very quickly.
