What we did
The Accelerator at Utrecht Science Park is an eleven-storey building for life science research. For BAM Bouw en Techniek, we were involved in the construction from start to finish.
In November 2020 we began supplying and installing the cage structures for the service shafts: the technical heart of the building. Each time a floor was completed, we stacked the next cage on top. Every floor has grating floors, so there is no fall hazard when work is carried out on the services.
We finished the void edges in the atrium with white sheet metal. Each panel has 67,000 holes of 2 millimetres, with material behind it that improves the acoustics. The folded components, such as the skirtings, were also ours. To save time, we developed a mobile workbench that moved with us from floor to floor.
An article about this project appeared in De Ondernamen (spring 2022).
“AVASTO does big things, but also picks up the small ones. They think along with you and take a down-to-earth view.”
Our work on this project
- cage structures for the service shafts, eleven storeys high
- grating floors on every storey, to prevent falls
- perforated void panels with 67,000 holes per panel, for better acoustics
- folded components such as skirtings
- a mobile workbench for installation floor by floor
